College Park
Historic College Park Memorial Gardens
Give NowA Brief History
In 1897, College Park Memorial Gardens was the most popular cemetery in the southern part of the Atlanta metro area. Some of the most famous and notable families of that time laid their loved ones to rest here.
In the early 1950s, before cremation became a trend, the park provided over 600 burials a year for families in south Atlanta.
The eastern half of the park was modernized with flat grave marker gardens, and it became one of the most visited spots on Easter Sunday, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Veterans Day.
Today the park provides fewer than 200 burials a year. Even though the gardens look very well kept, the financial struggle has become something families have come together to help with, keeping it as beautiful as it looks for every visitor.
